Black dwarf hamsters are not all black. Many have silvering on them, and turn siler with age. They can also have white. As  you can see from the pictures on other pages of my hamsters, my black hamsters have white paws, tail, possably even neck and patches on their back. They are not moltens when they have white, because a molten has white for a base coat. Black hamsters have dark eyes, but in light may apear to be blue tinted or red tinted.

Mottled

piratenshorty.jpg

The mottled gene is Dominant. 50% of the babies with one parent mottled one solid color will turn out mottled. You cannot breed two mottleds together, as about 25% of the babies will turn out white eyeless toothless babies that will die before they hit aulthood.  Mottleds will have a ruby tint to their eyes if they are the Mi gene. there is also a Mo gene, the mottleds with black eyes. These are not usualy found in the US.
